Training: Paul was born in Holland and studied stage management at the Central School of Speech and Drama.
Theatre includes: He has designed sound for 120 NT productions including: The Man of Mode, The Life of Galileo, The Royal Hunt of the Sun, Once in a Lifetime, Henry IV Parts 1 & 2, The House of Bernarda Alba, His Dark Materials, Buried Child, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Stuff Happens, Cyrano de Bergerac, Henry V, Edmond, A Streetcar Named Desire, Love’s Labour’s Lost, The Coast of Utopia, The Wind in the Willows, The Shaughraun, Flight, All My Sons, The Night of the Iguana, Under Milk Wood, Summerfolk and The Cherry Orchard. Musicals include: Sunday in the Park with George, Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, Lady in the Dark, Guys and Dolls, Candide and Trevor Nunn’s South Pacific, Oklahoma!, My Fair Lady and Anything Goes. Co-designs with Mike Walker include: Carousel (NT, West End and Tokyo) and Oliver! (London Palladium). Designs for dance include: Matthew Bourne’s Nutcracker!, Highland Fling, Edward Scissorhands and The Car Man, and CoisCeim’s Mermaids. West End: Porgy and Bess, Endgame and Bent. Paul is currently working on Present Laughter at the NT. He is a freelance sound designer, and an associate to the NT’s sound department as well as sound consultant for the Kingston Theatre.
